okay to start off, I have a pretty big CD collection. I'm really proud of it - I have stuff from pretty obscure artists, and obviously stuff from familiar people. some of my prized possessions include the minecraft soundtrack, two nick drake albums, incesticide by nirvana, and the queen platinum collection (3 greatest hits albums in one big box). I've been collecting cds since 2023, when my grandad lended me two beatles cds, and ever since I've created a really cool collection.
below is a photo of my cd collection - the photo is like a year old and doesn't show all of my cds, but it has a majority of them, so here it is. you can also view my discogs profile here, which has all of my cds linked.
alright, so this is a pretty important part of the page - what artists do i like? well, let's find out !!
so for starters, my favourite band is Nirvana! i've been a huge fan of their music since pretty much the day I listened to my first nirvana song, which unsurprisingly was Smells Like Teen Spirit, but ever since I've connected to their music so naturally that I've ended up consuming pretty much every piece of media the band put out. My favourite songs by nirvan would be Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, Negative Creep, and Breed. My favourite nirvana album is In Utero, but I also like their other studio albums + Incesticide and their unplugged performance. Kurt Cobain is cute btw :D
i've also been a big fan of the beatles for a long time. I've always had this love for their music that has seemingly persisted ever since I started listening to them. they're just so easy to listen to. my favourite beatles songs are A Taste Of Honey, Across The Universe and When I'm Sixty Four. In terms of albums, my favourite is probably Sgt. Pepper's, followed by Please Please Me and the White Album.
Some other artists I like are:
Pink Floyd - I like The Wall, Atom Heart Mother and Wish You Were Here. their music is kinda surreal
Aphex Twin - I like both SAW albums, plus a ton of his other ambient stuff. never really liked any work of his with a drum beat tho
Olivia Rodrigo - i only got really into her music recently, but some of the stuff she sings is really awesome, so I really like her :D
Pearl Jam - i went to one of their shows in 2024! the pixies opened for them and it was so cool. i like their first 3 albums + Yield and Dark Matter
I should also mention that I'm a big fan of the bocchi the rock soundtrack lol
so as you know, I collect cds! however, you may wonder - which album is my favourite? well, my favourite album would be In Utero by Nirvana! I already mentioned it as my favourite nirvana album, but it is also just my favourite album in general. it starts off really well; the first few songs go hard af. the middle of the album is great, the end of the album is great, the whole album is great!!! i think you should listen to it, you will not regret it :)
some other albums I quite like are LA Woman by the Doors, Sgt. Pepper's by the Beatles, The Wall by Pink Floyd, SAW II by Aphex Twin, EATEOT part 1 by the Caretaker, Surfin' USA by the Beach Boys, Sour by Olivia Rodrigo, Houdini by the Melvins, and hundreds, upon hundreds of more albums.
i feel like here would be a good spot to give a shoutout to some artists I really like that aren't really that well known, so i'll list them here:
Airbag - a progressive rock band kinda like Pink Floyd. their music is genuinely incredible.
vcr-classique - they make vaporwave music, which ik isn't for everyone but i really like them.
Atavist - a metal band with 700 monthly listeners on spotify. some of their stuff is truly great and I feel like they should be more known
92914 - they're a bit more known than the others i've listed, but i rarely see any mention of them online, which is crazy cause I love their music.
iwamizu - really good jazz music that I was a big fan of.
Radiohead - just kidding
