Who am I?

well hi! my name is stem. I'm a 15 yr old trans girl from New Zealand. i see myself as a bit of a chaotic person, but I try to keep myself together as well as I can. i have a very weird sense of humour, i really like dad jokes but i also like edgy stuff. i do try my best to be nice and caring, but i can slip up and be a bit blunt about some things, so I apologize if i do unintentionally treat you poorly. otherwise, some other things are that I have an eating disorder called ARFID - basically just my body rejects lots of food based off senses like smell, feel, etc. I also have an irrational fear of belly buttons. it's really weird but genuinely true, so don't test me on it lol. :)

Where am I from?

as I mentioned, I'm from New Zealand - it's quite a privilege living here, and I really enjoy it. It's very isolated from the rest of the world, which is both a good and a bad thing (it makes travel times overseas way worse). For the first few years of my life, I lived in Upper Hutt, which is a half an hour drive outside of the capital city Wellington. when I was four I moved to Queenstown in the South Island, and lived there for 10 years. Looking back I think Queenstown was good for the first years but I just didn't enjoy it for the last few years I was there. Last year I moved to Christchurch, which hasn't really been an improvement, but I can deal with it. Overall I think New Zealand is a very comfortable country and I love it here.

My love for the internet!

I've always been a bit of an internet nerd all of my life; i was kinda raised by the internet which I'd say is a privilege but there have certainly been downsides. A lot of my best friends over the years were people I only knew online, both in nz and internationally, which has been a really cool experience. You can really easily find like-minded people on the internet which has been super great.

One of my key interests is retro tech. I love old video games, consoles, computers, and just overall wacky stuff from the 80s and 90s. one thing I really want to do when I'm older is just have like this big collection of retro stuff in my house, i feel like that would be a dream come true.

One thing I always wanted to do on the internet was have my own website. I experimented with website builders like wix back in 2018, but found no success with them. I also tried google sites a few times but that just didn't really create anything unique; I wanted something that felt like my own. I attempted strawpage and carrd last year, but they didn't really work out (literally didn't work, in the case of strawpage). Late that year though, I discovered HTML and Neocities, which was perfect - so now this website is a thing !!!

My musical interests

i'm gonna keep this short and simple, because there is a page dedicated to my favourite music, but put simply, I love music. it's shaped my life for the past few years, and certainly for the better. one of my favourite pastimes is collecting CDs; i have 73 of them. I'm really proud of my collection, which you can see here.

My music taste is impossible to describe with words - it's kind of this massive fungus of different artists and genres. my favourite artist is definitely Nirvana, they just connect with me emotionally in a way that nobody else does, which sounds really corny but how else am I supposed to put it. I also really like the Beatles, totally for the music and totally NOT just cause of Ringo (wink wink). oh yeah! some other artists I like are aphex twin, pink floyd, olivia rodrigo, the doors and pearl jam. okay now go check out my favourite music page for more detail.

I like anime

okay, so this is a very recent interest of mine, but I have been watching a ton of anime lately and it's actually so peak. my favourite one so far is easily bocchi the rock, its goated (especially the soundtrack, which is kinda the point) and not just because of ikuyo kita. it has nothing to do with kita. I swear. anyway, I also really like madoka magica and azumanga daioh, both are incredible and i need to finish them still :( I've also been watching acchi kocchi recently, which is rlly good too.

once again, I've only gotten into anime quite recently, but my only path in life atp is becoming the fattest weeb ever so i shall embrace it :)

My favourite video games

once again, I'm gonna keep this simple since there's a page that goes into more detail. essentially, i really like video games. they're entertaining, stimulating, and fucking FUN. a lot of the games I've played throughout my life have been either creative/sandbox games or just random strategy games i found on either steam or roblox - the latter of which I have been on since 2016 but i rarely play anymore.

one game I tend to play a lot is the original Super Mario Bros. from 1985, I speedrun it and have a 23rd place any% time of 4:55.713. I also have a bunch of other times in miscellanous categories.

I've also taken a key interest in playing other retro games, primarily other mario games but also Duck Hunt, which is a 1984 video game where you shoot ducks. i'm also really good at wii sports bowling !! no matter what anyone says, i will always tell myself i'm really good at it!!

I quite like minecraft. building stuff is always a good casual pastime of mine. A few years ago i was really big into pvp. I got like 3 thousand wins in hypixel duels lol, i was crazy good at it. Then ping happened and now i cant really play multiplayer anymore.

I like city builders too, mainly Cities Skylines. a funny thing I do is build all my cities in perfect grids, no matter what the terrain is like. It looks really trippy at night. Other Interests

okay so first off, I have a small interest in transport, primarily commercial airliners and rail. the whole process of public transport is so fascinating to me; one of my favourite experiences was travelling on the shinkansen in Japan on multiple occasions. on the topic of transport, one thing I really want to do is travel the world and go as many places as I can. I just feel like there's so much to the world that i'm missing out on, so travelling around the world is going to be something incredible for me. anyway, that's really all about me, so if you want you can check out the other pages to learn a bit more about me. otherwise, goodbye !! :D
